He and Tina Segner are founding member of tumble circus, Ireland most political rigorous Non traditional circus company. They met on Grafton street in Dublin in 1995. Tumble Circus is an international awards winning company based in Belfast, but is run from caravans, hotel rooms and a Ford Transit van. The company has toured extensively throughout Ireland, Europe and the world. As well as circus Ken is involved in Clown Devilment a form of public clown situantionst activism or basically dressing up as clown and getting into as much trouble as possible. He is also and award wining film maker and successful dad.

- In the monthly season of December 2017, Ken Fanning was awarded Best Director for his feature mockumentary "The Pitts Circus Family" in Calcutta International Cult Film Festival, in India. This film was also awarded Best Editing (Stuart Sloan) and Best Sound Designing (Valentin Hoell and Scott Collins).
