Drafted by the Carolina Panthers at 41st overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Played in 15 games with seven starts in 2016. Tallied 23 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns. Led Carolina with a team-high 16.1-yard receiving average and tied for second on the team with four touchdowns. Two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection played in 37 games with 25 starts at Michigan.

Devin Funchess attended Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, Mich. He went on to attend the University Michigan where he was named Two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection and played in 37 games with 25 starts. Funchess moved to wide receiver as a junior after playing tight end as a sophomore and freshman. He totaled 126 receptions for 1,715 yards and 15 touchdowns. Funchess was named Second-team All-Big Ten Conference choice as a junior in 2014. He led the Wolverines with 62 catches, 733 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. He went on to be named Big Ten Conference tight end of the year in 2013, Second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection and he set a school record for the most receiving yards in a season by a tight end with 748. He was also selected to the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman team. Funchess was selected in the second round (41st overall) of the NFL Draft by Carolina (5/1/15). He played in 16 games with five starts as a rookie in 2015. He totaled 31 receptions for 473 yards and recorded five touchdowns in 2015 to tie for second most by a rookie in franchise history.
