Raised in England, Louise was the daughter of Prince Louis of Battenberg, and the sister of Princess Alice of Battenberg, Louis Mountbatten, and George Mountbatten. Through her mother Victoria Mountbatten, she was a granddaughter of Grand Duchess Alice and Louis IV, and a great-granddaughter of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. She later became Louise, Queen of Sweden from the accession of her husband, King Gustaf VI Adolf, in 1950.
