Mike Colman born (Michael Colman) was born on the 1st January 1985 and raised in the Dingle area of Liverpool. Mike attended Beaufort Street Primary School followed by Shorefields Comprehensive Senior School. He was always shy and reserved and it was only in his final year of school that he developed a passion for Media Production. He assisted during his final year at Secondary School as the Stage Manager in the school's productions. Mike then went on to attend Knowsley Community College studying Media and Film Studies and fulfilled all 3 years achieving great results. During his time at College, his passion for Media only grew and intensified with a particular interest in Production, Directing and Editing.
Mike was then accepted to the University of Chester to study Media Production. However unfortunate and emotional personal circumstances cut short his time at University and he dropped out not long into his 2nd year. For almost 10 years Mike struggled to find the right time or opportunity to take up his interest again. In 2009 MIke moved to Bangor, Northern Ireland where he lived for 5 years.
In early 2013, Mike finally signed to an agency in Northern Ireland, however there were very limited opportunities. There were occasions when Mike would be cast to appear in Adverts or TV Shows, however they were cancelled at the last moment, the scene's scrapped or location changed. 6 Months in and Mike had only had 1 job as a Supporting Artist in the movie "Robot Overlords".
Mike then made the decision later into 2013 that he was going to move back to his home town of Liverpool to pursue Media Work and had now had new ambitions of working in front of the camera as well as behind it. Almost immediately on his arrival to Liverpool, Mike signed to an agency. He also decided that to increase his experience as an actor he would go back to Acting Schools and signed with The Merseyside Academy Of Drama. Mike studied 7 courses over the next 2 years at the Academy, also staring in the end of term production on 3 occasions. In 2 of those productions, Mike played the part of 2 different characters in the same production. He also signed onto a course with the Workers Educational Association, where he studied how to put on a stage play. As part of that course, Mike stared in a stage production of Willy Russell's Terraces, playing the role of Joey.
Now gaining some more acting experience and adding it to his profile with his agent, the work started to pick up. Mike got the job of a supporting artist in the TV Shows, Cucumber and Banana produced by Red Productions. This then followed with more supporting artist work in 2 adverts, one for EE staring Kevin Bacon and one for Toto Japan Lottery staring Shinji Kagawa.
In 2015 Mike joined Star Now to try and increase his exposure and also joined a Film Making Group in Liverpool where he made some connections. It was as a result of this that got Mike involved with Short Film Production Groups. His first acting job was in "The Black Briefcase" produced by Beth Graham who then asked Mike to be part of her next production "Moving Image Breakdown". Mike was then contacted by One Touch Media Online to be part of their production, Mike played the part of Patrick Stacey in "Rook". His next role was as Ted Macarov in "Suspicious Minds".
Still signed with an agency, Mike was offered the starting role for the TV Channel Dave, in an Advert for Mercedes-Benz as 'The King' in "The King's Peach", while on set Mike was asked to take part in a second advert as one of the 'Bleach Boys' for "The Bleach Boys".
In 2016, Mike was then approached by Film Producer Joshua Cleave to act in "Time". The short film went on to be a part of numerous film festivals. Around the same time Mike had been working on his own production, "The Plan", the film had been fully written, cast and a crew had been assembled. On the first day of shooting the actress who was to be playing the main role pulled out after fears the film was too dark, production was shut down.
The past then came back to haunt Mike once more and the breakup of his long term relationship caused MIke to fall into a deep dark depression. This resulted in Mike not renewing his contract with his agent, he pulled out of any further terms or classes with The Merseyside Academy Of Drama and he lost contact with the connections he had made through the Film Making Group. Mike very quickly lost his way and for a time lost his passion for Film Production as he felt that this had had an effect on his relationship breaking down.
During the 2020/2021 lockdown, Mike came to understand that life was short and that it had to be enjoyed as much as possible. Being furloughed from his employment, Mike took out his script from "The Plan" and began working on his script once again. He took it from a 16 page short film to a 106 page feature. This also brought back his passion of Media Production and Mike is now determined to get back to the thing he loves most, he rejoined IMDB, Star Now, Twitter and Instagram and is hoping to be a part of productions once again once Covid isn't as bad.
