Sylvain Pelissier

Sylvain Pelissier is a French director and screenwriter, born in France. Born to a Sicilian mother and a French father, he developed a passion for cinema at a very young age. Influenced by genre films-from fantasy and science fiction to horror and thrillers-he has built a genre universe that has become his artistic signature. After five years of voluntary service in the army, he prepared for his transition to civilian life. It was then that he discovered video editing, a revelation that led him to teach himself and direct his first films. In 2009, he enrolled at the Image and Sound Workshops in Marseille, where he earned a professional training certificate in audiovisual production. In 2010, he wrote and directed his first short film, Night Terror, which was selected for festivals and won the Audience Award in Paris. He followed this with Backlash (2014), which was screened in theaters, and then Criminal Verse (2015), presented at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner, with the participation of Moussa Maskri. In 2016, he directed Lily, a fantasy short film selected for 28 international festivals, which won several awards and garnered over a million online views. Since then, he has developed a prolific body of independent work, with 29 short films to his credit, often handling multiple technical roles (writing, directing, editing, cinematography). Today, he continues his work through his independent company, Sypefilm, with which he produces and distributes genre films driven by a personal, immersive, and uncompromising vision.
