Surya Kumar Neupane known professionally as Uttam Neupane CAS is a National Award winning Nepali re-recording mixer,sound designer & Production sound mixer. He has contributed to a diverse range of international films,Including films from Nepal,The United Kingdom ,France,Germany,India,Bangladeshi Kurdistani-Iraq, Iran & China. His critically acclaimed works sound Bulbul and Talakjung vs Tulke were selected as Nepal's official entries for the 92nd and 88th Academy Awards, respectively . A recognized talent in his field. He is an sound designer alumnus of the Busan International film festival- Asian film academy and Berlin international Film festival- Berlinale Talents in 2023 & 2024., Mr.Neupane was honored with an active membership at prestigious Cinema Audio Society(CAS) in 2020, becoming the first Nepali Re-recording sound mixer authorized to use "CAS" after his name.
Uttam's work has been screened at numerous prestigious international film festivals, including Locarno, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, IDFA,BIFF etc...
He has been a pioneer in advancing sound technology in Nepali cinema. In 2022, he introduced Dolby Atmos to the industry by designing and re-recording mixing the first Nepali film soundtrack in this immersive audio format. Continuing in 2024 he became the first to implement DTS:X immersive sound in Nepali film.
