- Born in Buenos Aires, Teresa Schmiterlöw grew up in Europe. She is the daughter of the Swedish-Argentinian artist Bertram Schmiterlöw and Synnöve Berglund.
During 1991-1995 she lived with actor Björn Andrésen with whom she produced Vildhonung and several productions for The Stockholm Comedy Theatre. She also composed music for some comedy productions at the theatre.
She is MSc in gestalt theory and has studied Method Acting.

- Teresa Schmiterlöw is the niece of Vera Schmiterlöw. Lauritz Falk is her uncle. She is also related to Max von Sydow as his grandmother was from the Schmiterlöw family. She lives in Stockholm with her family.
