Shari Petti is a Trinidadian film director, cinematographer, and educator whose work explores Caribbean identity, culture, and history. A Fulbright Scholar, she holds an MFA in Cinematography from Florida State University and a BA in Film Production and Film Studies from the University of the West Indies. Her films span documentaries, narrative shorts, experimental works, and branded content. Her ongoing docu-series Mas Prep (2020-) which screened at the South London Gallery and Oxford Brookes University to sold out audiences, celebrates the behind-the-scenes artistry of Trinidad Carnival. Her short doc Sorf Hair (2017), about natural hair in Trinidad and Tobago, was nominated at the Pan African and Nouveaux Regards Film Festivals, won People's Choice at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, and screened widely at global festivals and universities. Her narrative short Fantastic Friday (2023) has screened at the London Short Film Festival, CaribbeanTales, and across the Caribbean region. As a creative director and cinematographer, her work has earned 10 Addy Awards, including Best of Show at the 2024 Caribbean Advertising Federation Awards. Shari has held residencies at Alice Yard, Oxford Brookes University, and Le Studio Lumina, and completed a fellowship with the Caribbean Film Academy via the Third Horizon Film Festival. She teaches Cinematography and Fundamentals of Film Production at UWI St. Augustine and is founder and creative director of Scene Productions Limited @scenepresents
