Alberto Niculae is a writer and director based in Bucharest, Romania. His interest in cinema began in high school, where he started making short films and developing his storytelling voice. He has since established himself within the Romanian film industry through both writing and directing.
In 2019, his screenplay Silent Night won the Best Pitch award at the Bucharest Best Comedy Film Festival. He later developed the short film project Collapse during a film residency with ADFR and participated in the Transilvania Talent Lab at the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF).
His debut short film, 5 More Minutes, screened at international film festivals including Fest-New Directors/New Films, Filmul de Piatra, and the Prague Actors and Filmmakers Film Festival, where it also received multiple awards in Romania and internationally.
He is currently developing the mini-series ReGym and works across commercial and artistic visual projects alongside his film work. Alberto Niculae continues to develop projects in both short and feature formats.
