Louie (Luigino) Palu is a photographer and filmmaker whose work has examined social political issues, such as human rights and conflict for 30-years. His work has been selected for a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and World Press Photo Award. His work has examined topics such as the drug war in Mexico, conflicts in Afghanistan and Ukraine, Guantanamo Bay and changing geopolitics in the Arctic. Based in Washington D.C. he has been focused on an ongoing in-depth project on U.S. politics and as of 2026 is completing his third documentary feature related to U.S. politics. He has directed and produced numerous short films, including two feature documentary films, which have been screened and broadcast/streamed internationally. His first feature was Kandahar Journals (2015, 75 minutes) produced in partnership with the Documentary Channel and the second is Zero Position (2022, 85 minutes) which premiered at the Hot Docs Festival.
