Biography

Kira Sipler is an award-winning screenwriter, director, producer, and assistant director known for her compelling narrative storytelling and sharp operational expertise. Raised in New Mexico, her passion for the arts began in high school theater before she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico.

Before stepping behind the camera, Sipler developed strong administrative and business acumen in the fast-paced world of dot-coms, eventually founding and running her own successful business in Seattle, WA. She seamlessly integrated this entrepreneurial mindset into film production, serving as Co-Founder of Jouska Road Productions alongside her longtime creative partner, Michael J. Dabrowski. Operating out of both Seattle and Albuquerque, the company focuses on developing, writing, and producing independent film.

Sipler's behind-the-scenes contributions span viral hits and acclaimed festival selections. She served as assistant director and co-producer on the viral short film "Period" (2021), which garnered over 8 million views on YouTube, and the short "Jameson," which surpassed 3.5 million views. As a screenwriter, her debut short film "The Autumn Waltz" earned numerous film festival accolades, including a nomination for Best Writer, and went on to stream on Amazon Prime. In 2022, her writing was recognized by the inaugural New Mexico Film Office New Voices program, presented by Stowe Story Labs, where her project was selected as one of just ten chosen from over 200 submissions.

In addition to her creative work, Sipler joined the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (AFMX) in 2020 as Volunteer Coordinator, steadily rising through the ranks to Director of Operations and ultimately serving as Executive Director through 2026.
