Biography

Roger Dube began his acting career in 2009 performing improvisational comedy (improv). He has studied under Chicago improv trainers Jimmy Carrane, Susan Messing, Armando Garcia, Law Tarello and John F. Thomson. He is experienced in both short form and long form improv and is a member of two improv troupes in Rochester, NY. He has performed in a variety of improv festivals on the national level, including shows in Providence, Pittsburgh (3x), Washington DC, Baltimore, Syracuse, and the Niagara Fringe Festival.

Roger's college career began at Cornell University, where he was awarded a Johnson fellowship that covered his undergraduate years. He was awarded a Bachelor's degree in experimental physics from Cornell and a PhD in physics from Princeton.

His academic career began with postdoctoral positions at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Tucson, Arizona and the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, California. He rose through professorial ranks at the University of Michigan, the University of Arizona, and as an adjunct professor at Yale University. He joined IBM, where he lead a research team in high performance optical data storage technologies, and guided the commercialization of IBM's atomic force microscope patents. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and co-founded active two businesses.

Roger has lectured on a wide range of science and improv topics including space weather, holographic data storage, Native American science contributions, the colonization of Mars, artificial intelligence, and computer security. He is author of a book on physics-based computer security published by John Wiley and Sons. He is an active Sequoyah Fellow in the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and has conducted short courses on negotiating and starting a business. He has recently been active in training people in improv as a means to improve scientific presentations.

Roger has appeared frequently on the National Public Radio program Connections, where he has engaged the listening audience in discussions on a variety of scientific and Native topics, including space science and electric vehicles.
