Biography

Christian Dimitrios Liatos is an American filmmaker, writer, director, producer, actor, and acting coach based in both Los Angeles and Chicago. Since beginning his theatre career in 2011 and expanding into filmmaking in 2014, he has built a reputation for creating character-driven stories that blend authentic emotion with commercial appeal.

Liatos is the founder of Team-13 Productions LLC, where he develops and produces original films focused on compelling human stories. His award-winning short film Morning Coffee (2023), adapted from the stage play of the same name, won Best Drama Short at the Austin Short Film Festival. He later wrote, directed, and produced Pillow (2024), which earned Best Actress at the Playhouse West Film Festival.

In 2025, Liatos wrote, directed, and produced Promises, a deeply personal proof-of-concept film inspired by his upbringing. The film earned him the Best Director award at the Berlin Short Film Awards and has enjoyed a successful festival run, including an official screening at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre as part of the Indie Night Film Festival. The project serves as the foundation for a planned feature film and reflects his commitment to authentic, emotionally driven storytelling.

Alongside his film work, Liatos is an accomplished playwright. He wrote, directed, and produced The Locker Room, a sold-out stage production at Playhouse West, further showcasing his ability to tell compelling ensemble stories for the stage. His background in theatre continues to shape his filmmaking, emphasizing truthful performances and strong character development.

As an actor and acting coach, Liatos has spent more than a decade studying and teaching the Meisner technique at Playhouse West Los Angeles. Alongside renowned acting teacher Robert Carnegie, he has co-taught acting classes and co-directed numerous stage productions, mentoring actors while helping preserve the school's commitment to truthful, actor-driven performances. His dedication to actors has become a defining element of his work both behind and in front of the camera.

Before entering the entertainment industry, Liatos was a standout hockey defenseman, a competitive athletic background that continues to influence his disciplined approach to leadership, collaboration, and storytelling. Today, he balances his work in film and television with coaching youth hockey, bringing the same passion for mentorship to the ice that he brings to the stage and screen.

Working between Los Angeles and Chicago, Liatos continues to develop original film and television projects through Team-13 Productions, including the feature films Chances and Little Tokyo.
