Anthony Kimata Mukuria is a distinguished Filmaker based in Los Angeles, renowned for his exceptional storytelling and visual artistry. Raised in the suburbs of Nairobi, Kenya, Kimata's early years were marked by a cultural landscape where art was not traditionally seen as a viable career path. Despite this, his passion for storytelling emerged through participation in theater classes and school plays, where he discovered a preference for working behind the scenes.
After relocating to Britain and later to California for high school, Kimata engaged in backstage and stagehand activities, where he honed his skills in lighting and stagecraft. These experiences ignited his fascination with the power of visual storytelling. Following high school, he pursued conventional career paths to secure financial stability, all while nurturing his passion for cinematography.
In 2012, Kimata made the pivotal decision to fully commit to his career in cinematography. His journey has been characterized by a relentless pursuit of growth and excellence. He has contributed to a diverse array of projects, including television shows such as Netflix's Nicky Jam: El Ganador and BET's Imani. His commercial work spans high-profile clients like Epson, Cash App, Megan Thee Stallion, AHA Vitals PSA, California Department of Health, Ganale Covid, St. Jude, Kay Jewelers, and NBC Christmas.
Kimata's expertise extends to Lensing music videos for prominent artists such as Shakira, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Migos, Kanye West, Drake, Toni Braxton, Daddy Yankee, and Enrique Iglesias, achieving billions of views on YouTube.
His commitment to authentic storytelling and continuous growth has naturally led him towards directing. In this capacity, he has refined his skills through commercial projects for beauty brands like Fabrigé and Garo Sparo, as well as music videos for artists such as Rauw Alejandro, with his video "Tatoo" garnering over 200 million views.
