Biography

Valeria Sochyvets is a Ukrainian producer, director, former adult model and adult actress. While studying at the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, she appeared on adult websites under various pseudonyms, including Connie (on MetArt), Davine (on Femjoy), and Roksolana (on AmourAngels). Her work in the adult entertainment industry represented her first professional on-camera experience. The granddaughter of Ukrainian humorist and prose writer Ivan Sochyvets, she trained at the Chunga-Changa Children's Show Theatre from the age of four to sixteen. She graduated with honors from the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, where she studied under director Vasyl Viter and earned a bachelor's degree in Film and Television Directing. In 2015, Valeria Sochyvets co-founded Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema (CUC), an organization dedicated to promoting Ukrainian cinema and producing films. She has produced a number of films that have screened at international film festivals, including Rotterdam, San Sebastián, Sarajevo, POFF Shorts, Clermont-Ferrand, Tampere, Molodist, and the Odesa International Film Festival, receiving more than 30 awards and nominations. She has also participated in numerous international pitching forums and co-production markets. As a curator, Valeria developed the film program for GogolFest from 2013 to 2017. She also curated film programs for the Intermezzo and Porto Franko festivals and, in 2019, founded Kinoohlyad, a festival for young filmmakers. In 2020, she served on the expert board for the national competition for debut short film projects at the Ukrainian State Film Agency. From 2018 to 2024, she served on the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Public Council of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee, and since 2020, she has been a member of the European Film Academy.
