Biography

Slava Sexton (also known as Slava Ponomarev) is a VFX Supervisor and compositor with over 15 years in visual effects. He began as a compositor and trained in Visual Effects at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow.

His approach as an On-Set and VFX Supervisor centers on invisible effects - work that serves the story rather than calling attention to itself. The goal is integration the audience never notices.

He made his debut as an On-Set Supervisor on Leviathan (2014), directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won Best Screenplay at Cannes. He went on to supervise and composite across feature films and commercials, including Marvel productions as a Lead and Senior Compositor for major Hollywood studios.

In 2024 he served as VFX Supervisor on the Renault R5 "The Climb" campaign, one of the most awarded commercials of the year.

He develops custom tools and post-production pipelines that give teams both creative flexibility and technical efficiency. His commercial work spans global brands, from Super Bowl spots to NDA-protected campaigns. He is a long-standing member of the Visual Effects Society.
