- Son of actor Arthur Lake and actress Patricia Lake. Older brother of Marion Lake and nephew of actress Florence Lake. Alleged grandson of William Randolph Hearst and actress Marion Davies.
- At the time of his death Lake was hoping to develop a television mini-series, "The Hidden Hearst," based on his claim that his mother Patricia Lake, who ostensibly was Marion Davies's niece, was actually the love-child of Davies and William Randolph Hearst. The title was suggested by Ann Sothern, the mother of Lake's long-time girlfriend Tisha Sterling.
