Biography

Jonathan French, known professionally as Johnny French, is an Irish actor from County Donegal, Ireland. Raised on the rugged northwest coast of the Inishowen Peninsula, he transitioned from a background in the construction industry to acting in 2012, after completing a drama course at a local theatre. Johnny brings authenticity and depth to his performances, whether on stage or screen. He has continued to develop his craft and build a career in the industry. He is known for Caveat (2020), I Am an Island (2021) and A Soldier's Voice (2014).

Johnny was nominated for Best Actor in 2020 by FrightFest Uk for Total Film for his work as lone drifter Isaac in Damian McCarthy's psychological horror feature Caveat.

In 2015, Johnny won the best actor award for A Soldiers Voice at the Follow Your Dreams Film Festival. The same year he was also nominated for Best Actor at The Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards and The Limerick Film Festival for A Soldiers Voice.

Johnny recently won the Best Actor award at the 13th Underground Cinema Awards 2022 for his performance as Colum in The Rock In The Sea as a medieval monk living in 9th-century Ireland.

Johnny also received a Best Actor nomination at the 10th Richard Harris International Film Festival 2022 for his work in The Rock In The Sea.
