- Martha learned English and became fluent on her own, reading and watching TV. She wanted to be able to read the new Harry Potter books the day they were released, without having to wait weeks for the Portuguese translation to hit bookstores.
- In 2015 Martha became one of the founding members of Tanque Coletivo, a group focused research and film production that values the female voice and representation in the movie industry.
