- Chosen Wilkins was born September 4,1988 in Virginia Beach, VA. His father worked for the public school system and his mother worked as an accountant. Chosen discovered his passion for music at the age of 5 and acting at the age of 12. He has been a part of many performing arts programs within Virginia and around the country. At the age of 9, Chosen shocked his mother when he performed The National Anthem at the church that he and his mother attended for a revival. This became a new-found talent and his aunt, an entertainment publicist in New York City, encouraged the family to allow him to sing in various talent shows and attend acting classes to enhanced his talents. However, his father prevented him from showing his talents and stopped him from participating in many theater programs as a child. Chosen is the legal grandchild of activist, Roy Wilkins and Minnie Wilkins. He is also the nephew of writer/poet, Harriet Colton-Wilkins.
In Chosen's teenage years, he became rebellious and began to pursue his dream to become a performer. In high-school, he auditioned for Norfolk State University Players of which he performed in musicals such as "Bubblin' Brown Sugar" and "Tambourines To Glory." Wilkins also auditioned for Hampton University Players and landed a lead role in the university's version of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' receiving daily standing-ovation for his performance as the role of Francis Flute. Performing for college theater is what caught the attention of an entertainment manager that instructed him to seek acting classes and voice lessons. Chosen study acting under the direction of Dr.Clarence Murray and other well-known instructors. He has also participated in acting workshops with various casting directors.
Chosen spent a great deal of time hosting and performing on concerts around the country & NBA Basketball Games performing the National Anthem and for game halftime shows. He ended up signing into a production agreement with a famous NBA Basketball Player that ended in 2008. He later signed with Coded/Universal Music.
He has a debut album set for a 2015 release, a film and television project in the works.
