  • Josiah Cuneo is a New York based filmmaker, composer and choreographer. He is best known for his films In Through the Night (2015), and Lilt (2017), as well as writing and directing the theatricals performances The Paper Dance (2017) and The Screen Above (2019).

    In 2014 Roulette hosted the premier of Cuneo's multimedia performance Scenes, four dance based films he wrote, directed and choreographed which was accompanied by a performance of original chamber music by his string trio Dissemble. In 2015 Cuneo's film Lilt (2017) was the recipient of the Dance Film Association's Production Grant. The same year his film In Through the Night (2015) premiered at The Anthology Film Archive as part of NewFilmakers New York. In 2016 Cuneo produced, filmed and edited twelve films for artist and filmmaker Duane Michals's multi-media exhibition Talking Pictures: Twelve Mini-Movies. The film The Pleasures of the Glove went on to win the award for Best Dark Comedy from the Festigious Film Festival. In 2017 Cuneo was the recipient of a Jerome Foundation Grant and Artist Residency at Roulette, New York. There he premiered the multimedia performance The Paper Dance, in which he wrote, directed, choreographed and composed a new work for twenty performers. In 2017 he also went on to premiere his film Lilt (2017) at the Chain NYC Film Festival, New York. He has worked as producer, editor and cinematographer on over forty-five films for artist and filmmaker Duane Michals.

    In 2019 Cuneo wrote and directed The Screen Above, premiering at Roulette Intermedium, Brooklyn NY. As of 2022 he is working on his first feature film.
