On stage, Tenisi has graced some of the most esteemed theaters across the country, including the National Black Theatre in NYC, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, and TheatreSquared. A proud Bridgeport, Connecticut native, Tenisi's artistic journey began with formal training under luminaries like Prof. Geoffrey Sheehan at Housatonic Community College, the Performing Arts Center of Connecticut, and the Alvin Ailey Foundation. This foundation cultivated his expertise in dance, African drumming, and non-verbal storytelling-skills that elevate his film, theater, and TV work to unforgettable heights. His portrayal of Frederick Douglass in the one-man show Frederick Douglass: An American Slave garnered the prestigious Barry M. Gordy Artistic Award from the Greater Bridgeport NAACP. He has also been honored with proclamations and the Key to the City of Bridgeport, as well as accolades from Connecticut's Governor. From his early days as a 7-year-old dancer and drummer at the Ralphola Taylor Community Center to studying with legends like Baba Tunisi "Jack" Davis and opening for Alvin Ailey II, Tenisi's roots in African percussion and dance are as vibrant as his acting career. He has performed with the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company, The Arts and Ideas Festival, and more, drawing upon his heritage and training to bring authenticity to every performance. As co-founder of ReBirth Arts Collective and Moja Productions, he uplifts emerging talent and celebrates cultural storytelling through the annual KaniniFest play-writing festival.
