- I am an atheist because I am not squeamish about the nature of reality.
- I learn much better by reading than by listening. As a prosopagnosiac and an anosmic, I always say that my "cosmic user interface" is words on a page.
- I have what's called redundant colon, and in 1990, it became so redundant that it made itself what I punningly call a "cozy costal cottage" in my ribs: the technical term for the spectacular chronic pain it causes is splenic flexure syndrome.
- I have total anosmia (loss of smell) and partial prosopagnosia (face-blindness)... Dr. Brad Duchaine... said both conditions, loss of smell and faces, were probably caused when I cracked the back of my skull at age 2. I'll tell ya, when a neuroscientist uses the term "fusiform gyrus," you really don't want him to add the words "Diffuse Axonal Injury". Or "shear". "Shear" is scary.
- I had a compound fracture of my left humerus in 2017... I have a literal screw loose!...at an angle reminiscent of a playful pose by Javier Botet. My doctor screamed, "It's going to bust right through your skin!" Since Aliens (1986) remains my absolutely favorite movie of all time, I really look forward to seeing what a Xenomorph armburster will look like.
- I've also broken my left shoulder, left wrist... Of course, I make up names for my left limb. The first was the Videodrome (1983) Tumorous Gangplank. Then, for District 9 (2009), the Shrieking Wikus Prawn Claw. But I also call it the Cyberdyne Systems Model One-Thousand-Yawn and the Weyland-Yutani Bore, since as Dick Francis always said, pain is boring. My name for the screw is the Javier Botet Memento (2000).
