Russell Emanuel is the Co-Founder and CEO of Extreme Music, the Production Music Library arm of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and The Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop, a joint venture between Extreme Music and Hans Zimmer's RCI Global, LLC.
His ambitious, no-holds-barred attitude and unique approach to business development compelled him to reinvent the stock music industry based on the mantra, "Put the music first and the business will follow." Icons such as Quincy Jones, Hans Zimmer, Snoop Dogg, Rodney Jerkins, Sir George Martin, Paul Oakenfold and Timbaland have all entrusted Emanuel with their intellectual property. Founded in 1997, Extreme Music is now the industry's leading production music label designed specifically for film, TV, commercials and electronic gaming industries.
A recording engineer, producer and multi-instrumentalist deeply passionate about music, Emanuel has wore numerous hats along his journey giving him a unique industry perspective. He worked his way up from assistant engineer to producer at various high-level London recording studios, including the prominent Abbey Road and CTS. While working in the mail room of London's Bruton Music, one of the first original music companies, Russell was given the opportunity to compose a music library album. Upon earning those first royalty checks, he became aware of the niche value of production music and thus the genesis for Extreme Music was born.
Most recently, Extreme Music and Hans Zimmer's RCI Global partnered to launch The Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop. With Hans and team's experience in scoring to picture and Extreme Music's expertise in skilled music placement came the perfect marriage; Bleeding Fingers offers impeccable and varied composer talent who provide custom-music-seeking clients with bespoke music scored upon request for their television-focused endeavors. Still in its start-up phase, Bleeding Fingers has already proven to be a success and has taken on a large range of projects, most notably BBC's landmark Planet Earth 2, NBC's newest hit Little Big Shots and the upcoming $100,000 Pyramid for ABC.
