Biography

Dr Fortunate Mafeta Phaka, born in Mamelodi township (South Africa), is an environmental scientist, author, science communication expert, and media practitioner. Among Dr Phaka's most notable works is being content producer for Imvelogy (2021) which is a first of its kind for South African television to explore the environmental conservation subject from Indigenous cultural perspectives. His television career started in 2010 as a trainee researcher/producer and he worked his way up from there while pursuing a career as a science academic.
