Tina Georgieva

Biography

Tina Georgieva

Mini bio

  • Tina Georgieva was born in a small Eastern Bulgarian town on September 4th, 1996. Years later Tina and her parents immigrated to the United States after winning the U.S Diversity Green Card Lottery. In 2006, she and her mother moved to Vancouver, Canada.

From a young age Tina was drawn to the arts and was greatly influenced by her aunt Elisaveta Gospodinova, a Bulgarian actress who studied the Stanislavsky Method at the South West University in Blagoevgrad. Tina would often accompany Elisaveta to studio sessions and theatre rehearsal joining her Aunt on tour of the Bulgarian National Theatre's production of "Husove".

After graduating high school in 2014, Tina went on to study in Vancouver at Railtown Actors Studio (co-founded by Kate Twa, and John Casini) an underground theatre group with an experimental and eclectic approach who worked with a range of material. From artists who have been the foundation of many controversial theatre to modern day playwrights who similarly strive to reach audiences with the same integrity. She went to study under Kate Twa, Edward Foi who were devoted to exposing the humor of life in all its absurdity, shedding light on the complexity of relationships, embracing the grotesque, and exposing the uncomfortable by pushing boundaries. Railtown was a home and a incubator for artists and where Tina found her direction in the arts and in theatre. Her work here inspired her against convention and into the off kilter stories that were comprised of complex individuals, always ready to take a risk and challenge standards by placing difficult questions at the forefront of the work.

After 5 years of growing her career in Vancouver, she moved to New York City where she would continue her studies in Theatre at the Stella Adler Conservatory in Manhattan.
