Biography

Hung Liu was born on February 7, 1948 in Changchun, China. He was married to Li Yougang and Jeff Kelley. He died on August 7, 2021 in Oakland, California, USA.

She studied art education at Beijing Teacher's College and became a teacher and host of a children's art program on national television. She later attended the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. She studied at the University of California at San Diego, where she received a master of fine arts degree. She became a U.S. citizen in 1991 and taught for many years at Mills College in Oakland, California.

Her father had served in Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Army. He was arrested when Ms. Liu was a baby, and did not see her again for more than 40 years.
