In 2000, Hugh joined the British Army's elite spearhead unit, The Parachute Regiment, and quickly rose through the ranks due to distinguished conduct on operations in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2008 he received the UK's oldest award for gallantry, for action's in Afghanistan's Helmand Province while operating as a Sniper.
