Biography

Darius Norowzian is from a bloodline of photographers and filmmakers. From an Iranian immigrant father and Polish immigrant mother, his ethnic mix of cultures and influences has shaped how he views the world. A tough but loving childhood has had a big impact on him as a filmmaker, drawing him towards exploring less conventional narratives.

Cutting his teeth at Ridley Scott Associates, he earned the stripes of a director in the advertising world, growing his work from documentary roots.

Darius directs and produces films rooted in social realism, character, and emotional truth. His work spans narrative film and commercial storytelling, collaborating with writers, cinematographers and producers across the UK. He is drawn to stories about responsibility, parenthood, class, and consequence.

His critically acclaimed documentary Born A Believer (Amazon Prime) follows South London charity Carney's Community on their journey to rehabilitate ex-offenders and disaffected youths through the medium of boxing and one to one mentoring.

His break into drama with No Dog has solidified his direction in filmmaking - blurring the lines between documentary and social-realist drama (No Dog - Nominee - Best Short Film, British Urban Film Festival 2021, Nominee Cannes Short Film Corner, and gold winner Kinsale Shark Awards 2021).
