  • Lis Asklund, born Louise Viveka Ulrika Lagercrantz 1913 at Lidingö, was a Swedish social counselor, writer, radio and television producer. She was the daughter of bank director Carl Lagercrantz and Agnes Hamilton, who were descendants of the poet Erik Gustaf Geijer. Lis Asklund was the sister of Olof Lagercrantz and Rutger Lagercrantz and half sister of Arvid Lagercrantz. She was also aunt of Lars Lönnroth and Johan Lönnroth and aunt to actress Marika Lagercrantz and writer David Lagercrantz. Asklund was a Red Cross and a registered nurse. She studied at the Florence Nightingale International Center in London. In 1938 she became one of Sweden's two first hospital social counselor's. In 1940 she married the writer/poet Erik Asklund and the same year she was contacted by by Elise Ottesen-Jensen who asked her to start a counseling activity at the RFSU (Swedish Association for Sexuality Education) for abortion-seeking women. During the next tr here decades she wrote books and articles, produced radio and television programs about society's forgotten people, young and old. In 1977, she made her last report before retirement. It was about the Fountain House movement in New York.
