Biography

Born on the Wirral in the North West of England, Chris started out at the BBC, making news packages for the iconic children's news programme - Newsround. This led to a 10-year career at the national broadcaster, working on programmes ranging from the BAFTA nominated Short Change through to documentary series Logo for BBC THREE. During this time, he made his first short film, Easter in the Bronx - a documentary about a group of monks living in the Bronx of New York (the title sequence came third in the Soho Rushes Short Film Festival). After leaving the BBC he worked in branded content for global agencies HAVAS and McCann World Group.

In 2012 he made a short drama on dementia, called Barbara's Story. The success of the film prompted him to dedicate himself to drama, with a particular interest in tackling the most difficult subjects. In 2014, he wrote and directed the Deafening Silence - a film about a mother grappling with an unfounded sense of guilt following a still birth - the film won numerous awards including second place and $20,000 at the Viewster International Film Festival. Other films have included Timekeeper - a film on coercive control and Seen and Heard- a film on child abuse. His films are widely recognised - winning numerous awards and being archived by the BFI.
