Biography

Nitzia Chama is a Mexican actress, host, and journalist, born in Xalapa, Veracruz. At the age of 21, she earned a degree in Education and Business Administration before moving to Los Angeles to study acting at the Stella Adler Acting Conservatory in Hollywood.

She is known for Fight of Fury (2020), Escándalo Secreto: En Plena Cuarentena (2022), and Lost Angels (2014). On television, she appeared in the third season of ABC's acclaimed anthology series American Crime (2015) and played a lead role in the short film She Returns, directed by Douglas Cushnie at the American Film Institute. The film toured numerous festivals and earned her a Best Actress nomination at the 2019 College Emmys. She also shared credits with Gael García Bernal in the Showtime pilot MAN, directed by Jonás Cuarón.

For seven years, Nitzia worked with Univision Communications, where she hosted Despierta Los Ángeles and contributed to Despierta América (1997) as a reporter and producer. There she created the segment Gente que nos inspira, profiling inspiring community figures and interviewing some of the world's biggest stars, including Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie, Chris Evans, and Kathy Bates.

In 2020, she launched Inspirarte Latinos, a platform and podcast dedicated to telling stories that empower and uplift the Latino community. In 2021, she joined the cast of HBO Max's The Garcias (2022) as one of the main characters. In 2023, she was honored as "Latina of the Year" by the City of Bell, California, for her leadership and contributions.

Beyond her work on screen, Nitzia has appeared in numerous commercials, theater productions in both English and Spanish, and community events that promote social causes. She continues to balance her acting career with her work as a host and activist, dedicated to inspiring others through storytelling.
