Jack Weisman aspires to make bold original films that defy easy classification. His works of creative nonfiction have premiered at hundreds of film festivals including Sundance, TIFF, SXSW, and IDFA. Jack is best known for his debut feature Nuisance Bear (2026) directed with Gabriela Osio Vanden, which offers a gripping study of a polar bears navigating human-dominated landscapes in the Canadian Arctic. Produced by A24, Documist, and Rise Films, Nuisance Bear premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2026 where it received the U.S Grand Jury Prize: Documentary.
Weisman is a co-founder of Documist, an Emmy and Peabody-winning production company based in New York, Toronto, and Albuquerque. He served as an executive producer on The Territory (2022). The Territory premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2022, where it won the World Cinema Documentary Audience Award and a Special Jury Prize. The Territory is available on Disney+ through National Geographic Documentary Films.
