Biography

Doctor Mikael Powell, as he is formally known and credited, is an actor, Voice Over talent, commercial print model, and long-time member of SAG/AFTRA. Doc is represented by Maggie Inc., in Boston, MA and has performed in numerous Television, Film, Industrial, Commercial, VO, and Print projects. Doc has significant training in Method Acting, (starting with the 2-week Advanced Method course) in-person at Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, Los Angeles, and has completed two years of weekly online Advanced Method Acting training with Rachel Bailit from the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute at Boston Casting. Presently, Doc is in weekly face-to-face training with Eric Lutes (Caroline in the City, Et. al). Doc has also had significant improvisational training at Providence Improv Guild, and Kismet Improv, and he attends various local acting workshops. Doctor Mikael Powell works as a Local Hire for all projects in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and, New York City/New Jersey.

In 1981 Doctor Mikael Powell was introduced to Joe DiMaggio (baseball legend and husband of Marilyn Monroe) at the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco, CA, by his father Lt. Col. William H. Powell Jr, Ret'd (a golf club member).

In the summer of 1985, Doctor Mikael Powell was cast in the workshop ensemble performance of "Prometheus Bound" by Director Richard Schechner (one of the founders of Theater Performance Studies, and director and creator of Dionysus in 69). Presentation was at the Visual Arts Gallery, University of North Texas.

In September 1974, Doctor Mikael Powell stood behind Red Skelton in line at the art store in Manhattan, Kansas and had a jovial boisterous conversation with him about whether they should give him his paints free, since he is a celebrity. Unfortunately, he had to pay.

In the early 1980s Doctor Mikael Powell shook hands with a gracious Danny Thomas on a studio lot outside of Los Angeles.

In 1984, Doctor Mikael Powell took classes from Irma P. Hall at S.T.A.G.E. in Dallas, Texas, and was directed by her in I Can't Imagine Tomorrow by Tennessee Williams.
