Max has a Dutch father and a Belgian mother. So he was born with dual nationality: Dutch and Belgian. He dropped the Belgian nationality when he turned 18 and kept the Dutch nationality. However, he races and always has raced with a Dutch racing license so from that perspective he is more Dutch than Belgian. And that is the way he feels about it too.

Formula 1 racing driver who has raced for: Toro Rosso (2015 (19 GPs)-2016 (4 GPs)), Red Bull (2016-present).

He is the first youngest driver in Formula 1 history to start a Grand Prix (2015 Australian GP);
He is the youngest rider to score points at the World Championship (2015 Malaysian GP);
He is the youngest to win a Grand Prix, his first career podium and leading a race (2016 Spanish GP) and
He became the first Dutch winner of an Formula 1 race.
Son of Jos Verstappen (Netherlands) and Sophie Kumpen (Belgium).
In December 2024, he announced on Instagram that they were expecting their first child together with Kelly Piquet in 2025.

Max played a leading role in several Jumbo TV commercials. Jumbo is a Dutch supermarket chain with stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. From the start of his career till 2023 Jumbo was a personal sponsor of Max Verstappen.
