Ruby Rose Krakower is an award-winning writer/director, cinematographer, and producer based in Berlin, Germany. With her work spanning between Berlin, New York, and London, she is recognized for her curiosity in exploring unique and diverse filmic landscapes, comedy-driven storytelling, and technical precision, and has established herself as a versatile creative force across international independent narrative film and high-profile artistic collaborations.
Ruby’s visual craft earned her national recognition in 2024 as a recipient of the National Board of Review (NBR) Student Grant. This prestigious honor was awarded for her senior thesis film, On the Ridge, which she wrote, directed, and shot. Her work in cinematography also secured her the Jesse Feigelman Film Award at Purchase College.
As a Producer, Ruby recently lead the 2025 period feature Characters Disappearing, a melancholic exploration of Manhattan's Chinatown in the early 1970s. The film was featured in The New York Times and achieved major industry visibility as a Centerpiece Film at CAAMFest, was a Programmer’s Pick at the San Diego Asian Film Festival and is still on the festival circuit.
With her work and collaborators now based predominantly in Europe, Ruby is currently in development on a slate of new projects that continue to merge atmospheric cinema with comedy, music photography and cinematography, and other unique cultural narratives.
