Biography

Jamal El-Sarawy is an Egyptian film director and producer who earned his Master’s degree in Film Directing with honors from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography VGIK in Moscow, Russia. His career combines directing, producing, academic training, and international cultural cooperation across the Arab world, Russia, and Central Asia. He is a member of the Egyptian Cinema Professions Syndicate and the Association of Commonwealth Alumni.

From 2018 to 2022, Jamal El-Sarawy worked as a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Lecturer in the Directing and Cinematography departments at the Faculty of Cinematic and Theatrical Sciences, Badr University. He contributed to supervising the graduation of the faculty’s first class in Directing and Cinematography and worked alongside Omar Abdel Aziz, Khaled Bahgat, Hany Lasheen, and cinematographer Samir Farag. In 2016, he delivered a professional photography training course for Qatar News Agency and received an honorary shield.

Jamal Osama El Serwy is an Egyptian film director and executive producer with over 15 years of international experience across Russia, Hungary, the UAE, Kazakhstan, and Egypt. A graduate with honors from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow - the world's oldest film school - where he studied from 2012 to 2017 under leading masters of the Russian school of cinema. He founded Action Studios in 2004, a production company specializing in feature films, documentaries, military drama, and commercial productions. He has directed works for the Egyptian Armed Forces and both state and private sectors. He also completed specialized training at the Nasser Higher Military Academy and served as a teaching assistant in the Directing and Cinematography departments at Badr University (BUC) in Cairo, supervising its first graduating class. His work spans feature films, short films, military and historical documentaries, music videos, and AI cinematic productions. He has participated in international film festivals including the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), the Spirit of Fire International Film Festival in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia), and the Potomki Pobediteley Festival in Novorossiysk (Russia).
