Jamal El-Sarawy is an Egyptian film director and producer who earned his Master’s degree in Film Directing with honors from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography VGIK in Moscow, Russia. His career combines directing, producing, academic training, and international cultural cooperation across the Arab world, Russia, and Central Asia. He is a member of the Egyptian Cinema Professions Syndicate and the Association of Commonwealth Alumni.
From 2018 to 2022, Jamal El-Sarawy worked as a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Lecturer in the Directing and Cinematography departments at the Faculty of Cinematic and Theatrical Sciences, Badr University. He contributed to supervising the graduation of the faculty’s first class in Directing and Cinematography and worked alongside Omar Abdel Aziz, Khaled Bahgat, Hany Lasheen, and cinematographer Samir Farag. In 2016, he delivered a professional photography training course for Qatar News Agency and received an honorary shield.
