Yoel Ortega, born in Havana, Cuba, and now based in Canada, has been a dynamic force in the film industry since 2005, taking on roles as a Writer, Director, Producer, and Film Editor. In 2016, he founded Black Can Films Inc., where he produces his own films and supports fellow creators. His film "4:30 María" premiered in various international festivals, and in 2020, he wrote and directed "Solitude," which began its festival run in 2021.

Most recently, Yoel was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to produce his latest film, "Chlorophyll." With a deep appreciation for storytelling, Yoel's work often explores the complexities of human emotions, resilience, and themes of hope. His films invite audiences to connect with the beauty of life, while he also channels his creativity into writing children's books, aiming to inspire young minds.
