Yoel Ortega, born in Havana, Cuba, and now based in Canada, has been a dynamic force in the film industry since 2005, taking on roles as a Writer, Director, Producer, and Film Editor. In 2016, he founded Black Can Films Inc., where he produces his own films and supports fellow creators. His film "4:30 María" premiered in various international festivals, and in 2020, he wrote and directed "Solitude," which began its festival run in 2021.
Most recently, Yoel was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to produce his latest film, "Chlorophyll." With a deep appreciation for storytelling, Yoel's work often explores the complexities of human emotions, resilience, and themes of hope.
