Crystal LaBeija (?-1982), a Manhattan drag queen originally known as Crystal LaAsia, was the legendary "Mother"/founder of The House of LaBeija (1977-) in New York City. She has been seen as the pioneer of the drag balls. Not much is known about her life but she became a legend and icon for the drag queens of color.

Footage of her in the 1968 film &quot;The Queen&quot; appears in the opening credits of the TV Series &quot;Transparent&quot; (2014-).
