Gehad Abdel Nasser Ahmed Diaa El Din is an Egyptian filmmaker known for his dynamic visual storytelling and a distinctive blend of live action with animation. Born in Cairo in 1985 into a family rich in artistic heritage, Gehad was influenced early on by his parents - both fine arts graduates - and by his grandfather, the legendary Egyptian director Ahmed Diaa El Din, a major figure during Egypt's golden era of cinema. He also found inspiration in his uncle, acclaimed filmmaker Karim Diaa El Din, whose films helped define 'youth cinema' in Egypt.
Gehad studied animation art and filmmaking, skillfully integrating his passion for drawing and visual effects into his cinematic work. His ability to fuse realistic imagery with animation has become a signature of his style, creating a unique and personal visual language.
He launched his filmmaking career with the animated short film "JIHAD" in 2006, followed by his graduation project "HOLLOW INSIDE" in 2007, which earned the Golden Award for Best Animated Film at the National Festival of Egyptian Cinema. Over the years, Gehad has directed numerous short films, documentaries, TV commercials, and corporate videos for leading companies across the region. His promotional work also gained international recognition, winning the Silver Award at the 2014 PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards for Best News/Information Program Spot for MBC Egypt.
Currently based in Dubai, Gehad runs El Dia Film Production, a company originally founded by his grandfather in the 1960s. He continues to pursue his mission of exploring the relationship between film form and aesthetic effect, crafting thought-provoking projects that reflect his deep love for cinema and innovative storytelling.
With an impressive body of work already under his belt and multiple awards to his name, Gehad Abdel Nasser is firmly establishing himself as one of the Arab world's most promising filmmakers.
