Mini bio

  • Elisa Halma was raised in Walworth, Wisconsin along with her sister, Kirsten, and brother, Craig 'Alex' Halma. She attended public school and tenaciously pursued her artistic education; including training abroad at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Alonzo King LINES Ballet School, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago with professional voice coaching from faculty of George Williams College-Aurora University and Roosevelt University Chicago.

Upon graduating in the top ten percent of her high school class, she attended Point Park University in 2008 on scholarship as a BFA candidate in concert dance. Elisa was hired by Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera after freshman year to join the ensemble of 'Joseph...' starring David Osmond and Shoshana Bean.

Elisa moved to New York City as an Actors' Equity Association member at the age of 20. She auditioned for the artistic director of the HB Studio Hagen Institute in Greenwich Village where she trained extensively at the studio for three years with master acting teachers: Carol Rosenfeld; Jim Boerlin; Trudy Steibl; Martha Bernard; Ilse Pfeifer; Erik Singer; Edward Moorehouse; Austin Pendleton; Mark Blum; Victor Slezak; and Reed Birney; while collaborating and producing salon style experimental pieces, performing in the cabaret act 'Three Bitches & an Asian' at Metropolitan Room and The Duplex, and joining new works/emerging artist groups throughout the city. Elisa was accepted into the HB Ensemble in 2013 to perform within a season featuring Lanford Wilsons' plays at the HB Playwrights Foundation. Shortly after, she began to co-create a web series called 'Just My Luck' with actor, writer/director Frank Delessio, and later actress/entrepreneur Gayatri Bahl.
