  • Andrew Petrilak is an American writer and producer specializing in documentary films, series, short form narrative content, and experimental new media. He most recently worked as co-producer and line producer on the 2023 film American Symphony about jazz musician Jon Batiste, which was shortlisted for a Best Documentary Academy Award, and won over twenty other awards including the Grammy Award for Best Music Film, and the PGA Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures. Petrilak previously received two News and Documentary Emmy Awards for the critically acclaimed documentary features Retrograde, which chronicles the last months of the war in Afghanistan; and The First Wave, about the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City. He also collaborated on The Boy From Medellin about Colombian reggaeton sensation J Balvin; two seasons of Showtime's award-winning human interest series The Trade; and the HBO series Tiger about the golfing prodigy.

    Petrilak has produced extensively across six continents for clients including Amazon Studios, Disney International, National Geographic, Conde Nast, Vogue, and Vice Media Group, as well as non-profit organizations the Headstrong Project and Vital Voices. He also has a passion for developing works with emerging queer filmmakers, visual designers, and performance artists. A New York native based in Brooklyn, Petrilak is a graduate of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
