Biography

Grant Zizzo is a Kansas-born, legally blind, L.A. based film director, small business owner and MFA graduate of Loyola Marymount University. He has a rare condition which has left him with no central vision, only peripheral. As such, his view of the world is quite unique and quite "wide." He has a passion for film's ability to capture the physical world of a story in a way so powerful as to make it a memorable character all its own.

Grant's debut short, "Bag Lady," was recognized in numerous festivals and received awards including Best Picture at the 45th annual Tensie Awards and aired on a PBS shorts program. His most recent film, "Neptune," is a collaboration with award-winning screenwriter Tom Radovich. Most recently, "Neptune" screened at the Tel-Aviv ICON festival.

He is currently working with multi-Emmy winning executive producer Matt Lutz to develop a scripted sci-fi TV series. Additionally, he is co-owner of Studio 203 LLC, an LA based art gallery and production company. His work with client ASU, Zocalo Public Square has seen over 16 episodes of the traveling social issues show directed and produced. In 2023, an episode won the Socal Journalism award for Investigative Journalism from the Los Angeles Press Club.

Prior, he worked with TV writer Kelby George to film a pilot for a series focused on the political power of the opium trade leading up to the Vietnam War. Titled "The American War" and told through French, Viet Cong, and American perspectives, this ambitious espionage / war-drama aims to unearth the incredibly powerful, complex stories that shape our world to this day.

Grant's previous experience comes from live television directing and documentary work. He has worked as lead-post producer on "Rubio" a documentary with theatrical release and "The Rubio Project" which aired on ESPN and Netflix. Additionally, he directed the 2014 National Worship Leaders Conference.
