- Emily Lerer is a Directors Guild of Canada -nominated and audience award-winning director (Oscar-qualifying Out On Film, Newfest) raised by a special education teacher and synagogue leader in a Midwestern town where 62 foot tall "Touchdown Jesus" loomed by the highway. Her work explores the messiness of femininity thorough dramedies and genre-bending stories.
Selected as "Comcast Rising Voices in Indie Film", her work has screened at Oscar- and Canadian Screen award-qualifying festivals including: Hollyshorts, Cinequest and Fantasia, where she served on the international shorts jury. Her debut feature "Omi" is in post production.
Television credits include: Shameless (Showtime), Twenties (BET), and Pretty Little Liars-Original Sin (HBO).
She is an alumna of Sundance Directing TV, AWD Lab, and AFI Directing course. She is a member of Array Crew, The Television Academy, Women in Film, Film Fatales and the Producers Guild of America.
