Biography

Yang Ge is a Chinese actress, filmmaker and singer, born and raised in Beijing and based in Berlin. Trained in dramatic theatre and film acting at Moscow’s Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), Yang Ge spent nine years at Gogol Center and has performed at major European theaters and festivals including Festival d’Avignon, Wiener Festwochen and Salzburg.

Yang Ge’s screen credits include major productions such as Attraction and Mathilde, as well as leading roles in Trinity Sunday, One-dimensional Man and the Dutch-German production A Messy Tribute to Motherly Love, in which Yang Ge plays twin sisters. Yang Ge also stars in Après, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov.

As a filmmaker, Yang Ge wrote, directed and starred in two feature films. Her debut feature Nu (2018), which Yang Ge also produced and scored, competed at the 40th Moscow International Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize "Silver George" and the Audience Award. Yang Ge’s second feature as writer-director and lead actress, Trinity Sunday (2019), competed at Kinotavr.

Yang Ge was a finalist on The Voice Russia in 2017, finishing fourth, and received a four-chair turn on The Voice of Germany in 2023. Yang Ge works professionally across Mandarin Chinese, Russian, English and German, combining a mainland Chinese cultural background with extensive professional experience in Russia and Europe.
