- Preston Michael Simpson is an actor and writer. Aspiring to be a part of the film industry since the seventh grade, he finally got to be a part of his high school drama department in the tenth grade. After being cast in one cancelled television pilot, his screen debut role was in Quarry (2016) as an extra in a tavern filmed in 2013. He had been in his second year of college with one television acting credit under his belt. In his sophomore year in college, he was granted the opportunity to be cast in The Standoff and Cheating Death (2014). He later acted in, wrote and directed Our Son (2016) and The Anonymous Assassin (2016) as well as co-wrote and starred in The Girl (2016).
In addition, he wrote the Prehistoric Profiling (2013) miniseries in response to his childhood fascination with prehistory, which he also narrated. At age eight in 2003, he hosted a home movie about dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. In 2015, he completed a first draft for a horror screenplay featuring two relatively unknown prehistoric animals, and is also working on a renewal of Prehistoric Profiling and a new series about tragedies in the world of Hollywood.
He was offered the chance to direct Holy Terror, a horror film. Unfortunately, it is still in limbo. However, he has been able to appear in Fortnite Matrix (2018) and episode 2 of Bluff City Law (2019). He's still writing and answering voice-over job ads. In fact, he published his first book: "'True' Horror Stories and Monsters" on March 5th, 2022. His second book, "Hyaenodon: The Ruler's Tooth", based on the first screenplay He completed. He has also begun production of his first independent film, Stone: Lone Wolf, as writer, director, executive producer and lead actor. He is also working on a prequel series: Ranger Stone (2023) in which he is the creator, lead writer, executive producer and lead actor and published a sequel book entitled "Daniel Stone: Heart of a Lion".
A guest appearance in We Are Family (2025) alongside his most frequent collaborator April Tweedy turned into a series regular role in Rebellion (2024) and a significant role in The Red State: Rise of the Death Pact as ex-cop Noah. This was also the start of multiple collaborations with fellow Memphis-area multi-hyphenate filmmaker Adrian Dent.
Building on his foundational training in classical theatre and physical performance, Simpson has expanded his footprint as a multi-hyphenate creator, establishing himself as a prolific author, screenwriter, and independent filmmaker under his Mammuthus Studios banner. Known for blending rigorous archival research with sharp cinematic pacing, his creative slate seamlessly bridges the worlds of high stakes dramatic performance and immersive genre storytelling.
As a screenwriter and narrative non-fiction author, Simpson has developed an expansive portfolio exploring themes of historical reconstruction, tactical survival, and creature-feature horror. His major literary and multimedia projects include "The Boy Who Would Be Empress", a reconstructive narrative detailing the complex world of ancient Roman courts and the high tension paleofiction series "Man Eaters" ("Hyaenodon: The Ruler's Tooth" & "Pouakai: The Last One"). Whether collaborating on independent film sets, directing stylized concept media, or designing intricate historical and tactical layouts, Simpson remains dedicated to bringing hidden voices and intense, character-driven survival stories to both the page and the screen.
