Biography

A USC film school alumnus and native of the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles, David Liu's work as a screenwriter and director has been supported by the Sundance Institute's Feature Film Program, SFFILM Rainin Grant, IFP/Gotham Week Project Market, Visual Communications Armed with a Camera Fellowship, Deutsche Bank Frieze LA Film Fellowship, and CAPE New Writers Fellowship.

Is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Graduated from Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where he served as editor-in-chief of the newspaper and delivered the baccalaureate address for his senior class.

Classically trained as a pianist since age nine, studying under Josephine Chu and Dr. Karen Owen.
