Biography

Karla Espino is an award-winning Puerto Rican writer, director, and comedian whose credits include Dropout TV, Disney+, Spotify, and BuzzFeed. Through the Alliance of Women Directors she was accepted into the 2025 Mentor Latina Directors Fellowship and recently premiered her pilot, The Funkee Sketch Show, which she wrote, directed, edited, and starred in, at the 2025 HollyShorts Film Festival. The pilot was also accepted into Laugh After Dark ComedyFest 2025 where it won Best Comedy Series and Audience Award. As a live event producer, Karla curates and hosts monthly shows, like her FU Variety Show, that is focused on creating spaces of diversity and wellness. She is a member of the Television Academy’s Directors peer group and also frequents as a guest on the Am I The A**hole Podcast.
